President's Message
Dr. Obaidullah Hashmi President | AHMA
I am the Founder and President of the Afghanistan Homeopathic Medical Association AHMA since Aug 2018, and I have thoroughly enjoyed the challenge and opportunities for the foundation of AHMA. Fortunately, that much may only become evident in the succeeding years, but the changes we have put in place and the foundations we have laid will stand us in excellent stead over the next few years. One way of looking at it is that we have succeeded in professionalizing the AHMA. We have accepted and embraced the fact that we need professional attitudes and skills for the AHMA and its members to prosper. We know that homeopathy is a rare and precious gift to humanity and that homeopaths are inspirational, committed, and dedicated but all of this needs to be supported by a professional organization. An organization employing experienced and skilled specialists in their various disciplines, achieving professional recognition from bodies such as the PSA, offering first-class advice and support to help homeopaths achieve the highest professional standards, and being proficient in our governance, communication, and advocacy. So much of what we have done and launched this year has been of the highest professional standard.
The Strategic Plan agreed upon by the Board sets the direction, but the staff fulfills the Board’s ambitions and implements the plans. And yet, we still seem to be fighting our corner against those who wish to undermine homeopathy. Our tactics on this are twin-track. Firstly, we part-fund and work together with MoPH to promote the practice and evidence of homeopathy. To back that up, we are also powerful advocates at a national level and by helping members on the ground – in their own local advocacy and marketing. The other tactic is to strengthen the profession and the practitioner. This provides you with support and guidance whenever you need it to ensure the training and CPD opportunities offered are of the highest standard. We aim to make you the best informed you can be, to facilitate meetings with other members – in person and online – to discuss issues, and provide you with training and support to make your practice and business more effective and in demand. Homeopathy needs strong support structures and professional practitioners confident in their knowledge, expertise, and professionalism to prosper. 2020 is the year we made real progress on both fronts.
